To commemorate its 25th year anniversary STARZ wanted to make a big splash at this year’s San Diego ComicCon convention by creating a one of a kind interactive immersive space. Determined to blur the line between booth, installation, and activation, the “Obsessable Worlds” would provide the fans an opportunity to celebrates STARZ’ impressive roster of shows, new and old, while highlighting the core values that identify them as truly unique: diverse voices, original stories, and immersive worlds.
The execution
We designed and built a 530 square feet immersive interactive space equipped with state of the art visuals and tech, and a narrative-driven component, and dropped it in the middle of the most important pop culture event in the world: San Diego Comic-Con.
While inside fans had the chance to experience content from three of the most critically acclaimed original series on the STARZ programming roster, “Outlander”, “American Gods” and newly released “The Rook”, providing shareable photo opportunities through an interactive photo-booth, and participated in an exclusive “STARZ Survivor Kit” prize giveaway which included limited edition custom-designed swag.
The results
Over the course of the four-day event more than 9500 fans had the opportunity to immerse themselves within the walls of a massive 66.4 million pixels motion canvas, spanning across 32 HD OLED screens with a total surface of 1,304 inch of video content; 8 HD speakers with directional surround sound further enhanced the experience, while over 1000 feet of LED strips literally lit up the convention center floor and turned Obsessable Worlds into one of the most visited and talked about destinations of SDCC 2019.
To top things off the cast from “The Rook” stopped by and staged an exclusive signing session within the space.
