The background
Kay Jewelers “Ever Us” collection was something to celebrate. And they wanted people around the world to share messages of love—in the most intimate, and digitally forward, way possible. It had to feel ultra-luxury, yet accessible. Nostalgic, yet future-thinking.
The execution
The Beam Your Love experience begins on a screen, but is so much more than that. Loved ones can record a message with someone special in mind or navigate a series of pre-populated love notes. Their declarations appear in twinkling star clusters across a stunning galaxy.
Their loved ones receive a “trajectory number” to locate their message, and they can explore other special somethings as they fly from Earth into space.
We used a custom queueing system and an icom ic-9100 transceiver to transmit messages to space using single side band modulation from a radio station in Southern California. The station transmitted at 1.2 Ghz UHF.
The results
Countless loved ones received messages across an ethereal galaxy. As people around the world continue to beam their messages into space, we all become more connected through captivating shout-outs of love.
