Johnson & Johnson: All Sci No Fi
The background
Johnson&Johnson wanted to put a futuristic twist on the recruiting and hiring process. In the spirit of their “All Sci No Fi” campaign, we created an innovative recruitment website specifically designed for candidates with hard skills in medical and scientific backgrounds.
The execution
The “All Sci No Fi” recruitment website transforms the job search process into an interactive experience. Upon loading, the candidate lands at the center of a futuristic 3D space where they can navigate left and right through a carousel of innovations, each linking to a subpage with more information about that technology and relevant open positions at the company.
The innovations—and, by extension, the careers at Johnson&Johnson—are
dramatically positioned as exciting concepts ripped straight from science fiction stories. As candidates explore, they realize these innovations actually exist in reality and could be their next job. Select innovations have corresponding film trailer–style videos, directed and shot by UNIT9’s Director Cole Paviour.
We brought this forward-thinking recruitment experience to life with sci-fi–inspired UX, WebGL spatial treatment, futuristic typography, and dramatic motion graphics. Within the captivating 3D environment of the carousel, we enabled a shift in camera perspective in correspondence with the user’s mouth so they can look around as they scroll through it. We also created a unique CMS for the site, which allows Johnson&Johnson to easily add, edit, and remove content from the carousel as needed in the future.
The results
The unique recruitment website acts as a digital hub where candidates can not only discover Johnson&Johnson technologies but also learn about the tangible impact they personally could have on humanity by joining the organization.
