Since the beginning of the client/agency relationship, there have been creative reviews—and they’ve evolved significantly over the years. Once something that had to be done with printouts in a large conference room can now be accomplished over video chats and screen shares remotely from any part of the world.

But while this works beautifully for some creative projects, VR projects—an undeniable force in our industry—suffer from a typical group review session. The problem? Only one person can wear a VR headset at a time. No one can experience exactly what he or she is experiencing at exactly the same time. Until now.

VR-Review is a platform that will revolutionize how clients, agencies and production shops review VR and AR work. Working much like a Google Hangout, all interested parties are invited to a session through a Google calendar invite and link. They simply put on their Google Cardboard, click and join the session.

When everyone’s arrived, they experience something no one has before: a live, interactive VR-Review where everyone’s in the same space at the same time, seeing the same things and commenting in real time.

Much like an ordinary conference call, the platform features VOIP communication between all twenty participants on the call, offering high quality and low latency audio. But what’s extraordinary about VR-Review is the multi-user gaze indication (you understand where another participant is looking and an activity indicator blinks whenever a person is speaking, so you know precisely who’s commenting on what), and the ability to capture comments as they’re made and subsequently push changes out to the appropriate makers on the projects to amend.

The app is built in a game engine, Unity, effectively making it compatible with a wide spectrum of devices: mobile phones, tablets and even PCs, along with a wide range of VR headsets: Google Cardboard, Samsung Gear VR and Oculus Rift.

VR is changing the way audiences view content, and it keeps getting more unbelievable. We thought it was about time we evolved the way we review VR—in a way that pushes its boundaries to the unimaginable.
