The background
When legendary artist David Choe announced plans to launch an NFT drop of his surreal whale figurine Munkos, we came on board to help solve a problem – how can unique but themed designs be created at scale to form a vast and varied collection?
The execution
With 25 existing Munko archetypes to work with, we needed to expand the collection by mixing various characteristics to create new variations. So we came up with an innovative way of producing videos, using procedural tools to create art at an insane scale. Taking Choe’s visionary genius from a range of brilliant sketches, we algorithmically created 10,000 unique Munko variants as videos to help the artist launch his imaginative NFT collection.
From wizard cloaks to exploding heads and psychedelic patterns, no two Munkos are the same. The aim was to create something suitable for every personality, keeping things unexpected but also warmly familiar for buyers.
The results
This is the world’s first procedurally-created NFT video collection and proves how technology x artist collaboration can achieve incredible results. Munko sales took off as soon as they hit the market, signposting the immense demand for this form of digital art in the Metaverse era.
