Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Crowd Sourced Art.
Become part of a live painting through Ubisoft’s new Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag microsite.
The site which is focused around one main image, allows users to become part of a live painting by choosing and uploading their photo to the site, with the hope of etching themselves in Assassin Creed’s history.
Focusing on imagery from the game itself, the site will be based around a large painting, 4,5 metres by 2,3 in size, which depicts a battle between pirates; the theme seen throughout the new Assassin’s Creed game.
Users are then encouraged to become part of the painting in two phases.
Phase one of the project allows users to post their faces within the painting, sharing and competing in duels with opponents. At the beginning of the recruitment period, all 200 characters will be open for application and voting.
Applications and voting will be closed off progressively – at the end of week 2, 3 and 4 – for a fixed number of the most chosen characters.
The faces with most votes will be presented to the painters at the Beaux-Arts so they can make the final decision.
This period will last for 4 weeks, from the June 25 to July 12. Winners will be announced as the phase progresses.
The second phase of the project is to gradually reveal the painted masterpiece to the world.
Through this microsite the user can become part of the action packed piece of artwork and become instilled in the history of Assassin’s Creed forever.
The final piece of art will have all the users faces painted for each character in the scene and will be recorded live on the microsite.
In a final twist to this extraordinary project, the finished painting will then be exhibited in one of Paris’ famous museums.
